For many years the Comeaux family has made a family trip to Grand Isle, Louisiana, but for all the obvious reasons, have not for the past few years. This was the year! Labor Day weekend was the planned weekend it was going to happen and amazingly, it did. Fifteen of us divided between two fish camps, 4 boats, all the fishing gear you can imagine and food for days. My husband might say, “This is what it’s like in heaven.” Not so much for me! I was certainly ALL about the food, but fishing is not my thing. If you knew this family and their penchant for fishing, you would wonder how I ended up here. Well, I can tell you God had a plan.

“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.” Matthew‬ ‭4:18-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How ironic, that we were on an island all about fishing, as my sister-in-law (who can take or leave fishing as well) relayed to me over the course of our vacation how God had laid on her heart to begin a blog called FOLLOWING GOD’s LEAD dedicated to all like-minded people who are discerning how to follow God’s lead; understanding their purpose; and how to move closer to God! It’s a vessel for God to encourage, inspire, teach and motivate us, through my SIL’s obedience, to move towards and with Him! I can pretty much say, God’s plan was that we were to spend the entire weekend talking Jesus! What a double blessing vacation it turned out to be!

How ironic, also, that we are in a season of discernment in our church on how to FOLLOW GOD’s LEAD! In the RSV translation of the above verse, Jesus says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”. In these few words, He is directing us and equipping us all at the same time! All we have to do is obey! Follow Him through His Word, follow Him through prayer, follow Him through the wisdom and revelation Holy Spirit imparts to you, follow Him in ALL your ways and He will make straight your path. (Proverbs 3:5-6) This is the confidence we can have in this process!

Lastly, how ironic that I’m going to be fishing after all! 😁 Just not for fish!

Jesus, thank you how you are always working all things for your purpose and showing us when we pick up our nets, we can rest assured that you are equipping us to be fishers of men when we follow your lead in obedience! AMEN

Come and FOLLOW GOD’s LEAD as we seek Him in corporate prayer, Wednesday!

Prayerfully submitted,
