Have you ever gone to the doctor or to an appointment and had to sit in the waiting room?

Of course, you have. Everyone has had to do this at some point in their lives. Some times these waits are short, but some times they feel very long as if you have been waiting for eternity.

What do you do while you are waiting?

Do you rest and relax knowing you will eventually be called? Do you waste time while you are waiting? Do you use this time while waiting to be productive? Are you praying for those around you while you wait? Do spend time with others trying to comfort them until you are called? Do you grow impatient, quick to anger, while you wait?

Time spent on this earth is very much like being in a doctor’s waiting room, but instead can be viewed as God’s Waiting Room. We are all here until we are called. Some may be waiting to be called to hear their purpose on earth. Others may be called to move from this earth. It does not matter the reason for being called. What actually matters is what we have been doing while waiting to be called by God from this waiting room.

Are you sitting, wasting time? Are you being productive, helping others? Are you comforting or praying for those in need?

Just as when we sit in the doctor’s waiting room, we never know the exact moment we will be called. The same is true about when God will call us from His waiting room here on earth. Let us make sure we use our time “waiting” to glorify our Lord.

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
